About Jams Deli

Jams Deli History

Greensboro native, Chris Maness, opened the first Jams Deli in 1988, after 10 years experience in the restaurant industry. At that time, Jams was in the former Boston Market building located in Quaker Village. Even though it only had room for 33 guests, that was enough for Chris to get started. He had one goal in mind: to serve high quality sandwiches at competative prices. It worked and after just 5 years, Chris had his eye on a bigger location.

As fate would have it, a Schwinn Bicycle Shop was closing nearby and it was the perfect spot to move his restaurant to. Chris didn’t hesitate to sign the lease for his new location at 5707 W. Friendly Avenue, boasting triple the seats of his first store. Jams Deli remains at this location today and is the perfect spot for a quick lunch, dinner or party event.

Jams Deli promises quick service, but not fast food. Chris maintains that promise by serving high quality ingredients and being hands-on in the kitchen. He thrives on the rush from busy lunch and dinner services by making his customers happy. As Chris says, “we like being a part of the community and part of the neighborhoods we are in [and] knowing our regular customers by first name.”

Please stop by our Jams Deli location for a one of our savory burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and more and join our community on social media!
